Reconnecting with the roots of our faith
Al-Asl — “the root” — is an institute of Islamic sciences teaching Tajweed, Qira'at and Mutoon to seekers in America, Pakistan and beyond.
Rooted in the Quran, flourishing in knowledge
Our name and our whole approach flow from Surah Ibrahim (14:24): a good word is like a good tree — its root is firm and its branches reach the sky. We believe sound learning begins with deep roots: sincerity, correct foundations, and a living connection to the Book of Allah.
Arabic remains the key to the divine message, and our work is to place that key in a student’s hands — teaching the classical sciences with their precision intact, and with the patience real understanding asks for.

When I began this work, I longed for a place where the sciences of the Quran were taught with both rigour and warmth — where a student is never just a number, and where the meanings of the Book are carried with the care they deserve. Al-Asl is the fruit of that longing.
In partnership with Azharul Jannah, we have built courseware that honours the classical tradition while meeting students wherever they are. I invite you, with all sincerity, to begin your journey with us.

Depth without dilution
The full weight of the classical sciences, taught clearly — never trimmed down into something lesser.
Live mentorship
Real teachers, real feedback on your recitation — not pre-recorded lessons alone.
